Grilled Cheese of the Week: Smoked pork with gochujang chili sauce, scallions and white cheddar

Drink: Newman’s Own Chardonannay $6/$20

Dear my Given Grace family,

Thank you for your patience, understanding and loyalty. COVID-19 has impacted everyone, everywhere. Thank you for supporting your local small businesses. Please continue to shop local as we navigate the remainder of 2020 and COVID-19.

Memorial Day – Labor Day Given Grace’s summer hours will be Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm. Daily deliveries will go at 9:30am and 4pm, please take note of these changes and plan accordingly when you order.

Please keep in mind the floriculture industry is feeling the effects of COVID-19. If you are needing a specific flower it is best to order a few weeks early, that will give my wholesalers time to locate it. There is limited product availability and transportation obstacles right now. We all look forward to the floriculture industry running more smoothly in the future months. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work towards that.

Given Grace’s doors are OPEN and we would LOVE to see you! Stop in and say hi, shop around and see what is new!  Please make sure you follow the CDC recommended guidelines to keep us all safe and slow the spread.

As always follow Given Grace on Facebook and Instagram for updates and thank you again for your support!

Sincerely,
Nichell Lowery, owner

Thank you to Heineken Electric for partnering with the Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce for the 2020-21 year. We appreciate your membership!

Salina, Kansas –InMyHome Home Care, a division of OCCK, Inc., is integrating a new comprehensive telehealth solution for high-risk patients in their fifteen county service area in north central Kansas.

With the recent social distancing requirements, additional services and solutions are needed to serve Home Care clients, making health care more accessible for people who live in rural or isolated communities, as well as making Home Care services more readily available and convenient for people with limited mobility, time or transportation.  Telehealth has also been proven to decrease or alleviate frequent re-hospitalizations for patients.

Telehealth is the use of digital information and communication devices, such as computers and tablets, to access health care services remotely and to manage health care.  This new system is easy to use and allows qualified patients to take their own vital signs daily.  It also provides education to patients on their conditions and medications, gives reminders about taking medications, and asks survey questions about how they are feeling at that time.  The data received allows InMyHome clinicians to monitor, triage, and care for patients with alerts and quick responses in real time through video, phone, or text chat.

“We are so excited to be able to offer this service,” said Stephanie Wedel, InMyHome Administrator.  “We are now able to serve people in a whole new way, while still keeping that personal touch that OCCK customers are used to.”

InMyHome works to engage and empower patients to become or remain active in their health with condition-specific education, symptom surveys, and constant communication between the patient, their providers, and their caregivers.  Building this innovative telehealth care program allows InMyHome and OCCK to further their mission of fulfilling individual needs in rural communities in north central Kansas, with the goals of helping people stay healthy and out of hospitals.

Telehealth is a covered service for Medicaid recipients.  Private pay options are also available.

To learn more about telehealth or Home Care services, contact InMyHome at 785-823-2025 or view the OCCK website at www.occk.com.

OCCK, Inc. provides services in north central Kansas to anyone with any type of long or short-term disability, starting as early as birth and following people through their whole lives.  OCCK provides an array of supports for success at home and in the community, including independent living skills and supports, employment and career training, Alzheimer’s supports, autism services, assistive technology, children’s services, transportation, specialized therapies, and home health care.  In 2020, OCCK, Inc. is celebrating 50 years of service.

Latest events, news and specials in North Central Kansas!

Join us on FB Live on the Beloit Area Chamber of Commerce page for a FIRST look at the Student Designed Carpentry House being auctioned off SOON!! https://www.facebook.com/events/1449629155235258/
https://mccwebstores.com/2288/shop/home

This week, Governor Kelly announced $9 million in grants through CDBG Economic Development Funds.  CDBG funds must be applied through a government entity.  At this time, both Mitchell County and the City of Beloit will be applying for funds after the Public Hearings next week.  Funds will be awarded on a first-come basis.  I am also attaching a FAQ about the program.

Economic development grants provide communities with funding to help local businesses retain jobs for low-to-moderate income people. Grant funds can be used for expenses such as working capital (e.g., wages, utilities, rent) or to purchase up to 60 days of inventory needed to reopen, once allowed to reopen.

To be eligible to receive a CDBG-CV Economic Development grant, the recipient business must be a for-profit business and retaining jobs for low to moderate-income people.  51% or more of the full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs retained must be for persons from low to moderate-income households as defined by HUD.  Here is the table for Mitchell County:

 1 Person2 Person3 Person4 Person5 Person6 Person7 Person8 Person
 FamilyFamilyFamilyFamilyFamilyFamilyFamilyFamily
80% of Median$37,450$42,800$48,150$53,450$57,750$62,050$66,300$70,600

The grant application includes a narrative that will describe our community and the setbacks caused by COVID 19.   We do not have to list specific businesses, but the following information will be helpful in the application.

Please let me know the following:

  • Do you believe your business would have 51% of the employees fall under the low-to-moderate income limits?
  • How many full-time employees do you have?
  • Explain your need for funds as they relate to COVID 19?
  • How would the funds help reduce the setback caused by COVID 19?

Contact Heather Hartman for more information. 785-738-7336.

Department of Commerce launches COVID Jobs Website

By Derek Nester -April 1, 2020

Topeka, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Commerce today launched a new jobs website, connecting job seekers with Kansas businesses hiring to fill urgent needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The COVID-19 jobs site, kansasworks.com/coronavirus, allows employers from essential industries to quickly and easily post critical positions that need to be filled to support activities related to helping individuals and businesses during the COVID-19 crisis. The site, which is available at no cost to employers or job seekers, will be updated continuously as businesses add new jobs to the system.

Job seekers can visit the site to find companies hiring for COVID-19-related positions and quickly access company hiring portals.

“While the COVID-19 crisis has led to many Kansans losing their jobs, it’s also driven demand and opportunity for some functions in critical industries such as food and grocery, shipping and logistics and healthcare,” Secretary of Commerce David Toland said. “The COVID-19 jobs website allows us to quickly connect individuals looking for work with companies that have urgent hiring needs, particularly those related to support needed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.”

To access the COVID jobs website, visit kansasworks.com/coronavirus.

The Paycheck Protection Program kicks off today, April 3rd.  This will be an incredibly beneficial program to help small businesses keep workers on their payroll.  I have linked some information below, but I highly encourage you to reach out to your lender today to enroll in the program.  We understand these funds will run out very quickly, so the sooner you enroll the better.

Paycheck Protection Program (starts today April 3rd, 2020):

The Paycheck Protection Program is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll.  SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities.  You can apply through your local SBA approved local lender.  You should consult with your local lender as to whether it is participating in the program.

Lenders may begin processing loan applications as soon as April 3, 2020.  The Paycheck Protection Program will be available through June 30, 2020.

Who Can Apply

This program is for any small business with less than 500 employees (including sole proprietorships, independent contractors and self-employed persons), private non-profit organization or 501(c)(19) veterans organizations affected by coronavirus/COVID-19.

Loan Details and Forgiveness

The loan will be fully forgiven if the funds are used for payroll costs, interest on mortgages, rent, and utilities (due to likely high subscription, at least 75% of the forgiven amount must have been used for payroll). Loan payments will also be deferred for six months. No collateral or personal guarantees are required. Neither the government nor lenders will charge small businesses any fees.  Forgiveness is based on the employer maintaining or quickly rehiring employees and maintaining salary levels.  Forgiveness will be reduced if full-time headcount declines, or if salaries and wages decrease.  This loan has a maturity of 2 years and an interest rate of 1%. If you wish to begin preparing your application, you can download a copy of the PPP borrower application form to see the information that will be requested from you when you apply with a lender.
