For those that took advantage of the PPP loan program through the SBA, you are probably well on your way toward getting most, if not all, of the loan forgiven due to your expenses.
Were you aware that the expenses you show, in your effort to have the loan forgiven, can NOT be used as an expense on your 2020 income tax return? In essence, this means that the PPP amount you received will be taxable as income. Have you planned for this additional expense?
Attached, please find a letter that all small businesses should send to their representatives in Washington, DC. In an effort to have Congress remedy this unintended consequence.
Sending communication like this to your representatives have proven effective. They need to hear from you.
Personalize the letter and send this letter to your representatives in Washington, DC.
You can find your local rep using the link below. Please note it is best to email versus sending a letter. For an email version of the letter please email beloitchamber@nckcn.com. If you have more questions contact Robert Davis at H&R Block, 785-738-5801.

We are needing help with distributing commodities. Mainly, people to carry boxes to cars and also help unload truck. This happens once a month, on a Wednesday (usually falls on the 3rd Wednesday of the month) Two cars need unloaded about 11:15am, and that takes roughly 15-20 minutes. Then at 4:30pm we need help, no more than 3-4 people, to load boxes into cars as they come through. This usually takes less than an hour. It is a wonderful way for organizations and businesses to give back and also connect with local people in serving. Might even be a bit of a competition between organizations lol!
If we could get a few strong hands and backs from each church to sign up for one month, we could be covered for help. At this time we serve about 50 Beloit families. If anyone is wanting information, they may contact me. (This also counts for those needing community service hours for school etc.) We are running very short on help and it is appreciated!
Contact Rachel Ducote, Program Director, to get involved. 785-738-3433.
