SILVER HAIRED LEGISLATURE ANNOUNCES NEW WEBSITE
The Kansas Silver Haired Legislature is pleased to announce the launch of their new website, Kansas-shl.org . The release of the website was announced by Jay Rowh, Mitchell County SHL delegate from Beloit, who also serves as the president of the state-wide organization. The SHL is a Senior Advocacy group, promoting Senior Issues to the Kansas Legislature, as well as giving Kansas Seniors a voice across the state.
The website gives a treasure-trove of information concerning the Silver Haired Legislature, including a complete roster of delegates, the By-Laws and committee designations, and the regions across the state (PSA’s) the SHL is divided into. The site also will be a source for important meeting dates, as well as the storehouse for any news releases throughout the year. In addition, the information and forms for application for the Geriatric Nursing Scholarship sponsored by the SHL will also be found, making assessing this information much easier.
But that is not all. There is a complete roster of the Senators and House of Representative members in the Kansas Legislature, including district number and address, phone number, and email address. The Area Agencies on Aging information can also be found, including vital contact information of importance to both Seniors and their Caregivers. There will also be links to other organizations which share similar interests, including the Kansas Association of Retired School Personnel, and the Kansas Coalition of Public Retirees, both of which work with the SHL on such vital issues as the Kansas Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS).
As with most websites, it is not complete as of yet, and it will be constantly updated as new information becomes available. With the advent of this new website, people across the state will be able to keep up on issues important to Seniors, their families, and their caregivers, and will have access to the vital contact information needed to insure a genuinely good quality of life in a person’s golden years.
NCK Community Food Survey Did you know North Central Kansas has an official Food Council that was developed in early 2017? The North Central Kansas Food Council covers 12 counties (Clay, Cloud, Dickinson, Ellsworth, Jewell, Lincoln, Marshall, Mitchell, Ottawa, Republic, Saline and Washington). We are currently working on a food system assessment to help us understand the local food system in each County and the region.
EVERYONE living in one of those 12 counties is invited to complete this online survey as part of the information gathering for the food system assessment. It does not take long but the results will go a long way.
Click to take the survey>> https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NCKFCSurvey
Wondering how that not computer savvy will complete the survey? We will have hard copies available around each City in the region. Look for those hard copies over the next two weeks. Surveys will be collected until July 31. Please share this link throughout your personal work and networks or simply forward on this email. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out. If you are interested in receiving marketing materials for the survey, I would be happy to provide those as well.
