Schoen Funeral Home
Barry Schoen, Funeral Director Assistant and Memorial Sales Specialist
Barry Schoen is now a full time staff member at Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments with his wife Sylvia. Barry and Sylvia are first generation funeral home owners. They have been serving families from the same location on Hersey Ave since 2011. He has worked behind the scenes since Schoen’s purchased the building (formally Harrison Funeral Home) in 2014.
The Schoen’s recently took the opportunity to utilize Barry’s strengths and talents within their family owned and operated business, and are excited to serve families together.
“Barry has been the mastermind behind our entire business” Sylvia states, “without him I would have never took a chance with a funeral home that had lost its former reputation, or even gotten into memorial sales.” Barry wanted to offer the families they serve more, and he wanted to do it all from one location. Thus adding memorial sales, benches, vases in granite and metal, laser etchings, cemetery lettering, stone repair and restoration, and bronze and aluminum plaques to what they offer.
Barry has all the proper knowledge to assist with pre planning, at need planning, and memorial design/ sales.
Stop by the Schoen’s sometime to meet Barry!

“Greatest Archery Shoot”
North central Kansas to host “the greatest archery shoot in the world”.
The Rinehart R100 3D archery shoot will be May 19 and 20, 2018. The event will be hosted by North Central Kansas Shooting Sports archery club the “Waconda Lake Archers”. Over 100 life size animal targets will be set up on trails along the wooded creeks and rolling hills at Ringneck Ranch in southwest Mitchell county. This year’s course will offer an African safari range and a North American range. During past shoots in Kansas this event has attracted over 300 participants. People travel hundreds of miles to participate in this archery competition and the “just for fun” categories. Many people will shoot the 100 targets over the two-day period. If attendees plan to shoot all 100 in one day, they’ll need to arrive early, so they don’t miss any of the special events going on in the afternoons. Crossbows are allowed! The event is family friendly and non-shooters are welcome to walk along the course. If visitors intend to bring a pet be sure to bring a leash as there will be lots of people on the trails. The shoot has marked yardages but participants are welcome to bring rangefinders and binoculars. The R100 starts at 7:30am. Find more details on the event schedule and register online at http://www.R100.org. If attendees are interested in lodging, primitive camping, and RV camping on site call the Ringneck Ranch office at 785-373-4835. Overnight accommodations, RV parking, and restaurants can also be found at nearby locations in Beloit, Glen Elder, Cawker City, Downs, Osborne, Lucas and Lincoln. The Waconda Lake Archery club will be giving away a Kansas state park annual vehicle permit to two lucky people. To be entered into the drawing you must be two of the first 100 people to register for the event online. Winners will be announced once registration reaches 100.
For more than 15 years the R100 Archery Shoot, hosted by Rinehart Targets, has provided thousands of passionate archers with an event that caters to participants of all ages and skill levels. R100 is comprised of 20 tournaments across 20 different states that host a family oriented event with over 9,000 attendees per year. The R100 can be found at some of the nations finest archery clubs and continues to introduce youthful shooters to the great sport of archery season after season.
