Chamber Chat
New Chamber Member
The Chamber would like to welcome Beloit Arts Center as the newest member of the Chamber. Dr David Neubert, President/Music Director stated, “The Beloit Arts Center was a dream by my wife, Terri Neubert, a violinist and mother who grew up in Beloit. After she passed away in April of 2016 we continued to build that dream. Terri wanted to grow the arts community in Beloit by focusing on teaching children, particularly those that do not have access to such instruction.
Thank you to the community of Beloit for your support in making this all possible.”
The mission of the Beloit Arts Center is focused on Music Education, Youth Arts, Local Artists and Community Engagement. Catrina Wilson is the Programs Director/Studio Manager/Instructor for the facility.
The Beloit Arts Center has so many different things to offer. Go to www.beloitartscenter.org, check out their facebook page under Beloit Arts Center or call Catrina at 785-505-1634 to enroll in classes or tour the facility at 200 South Mill St.
The Chamber and the community are grateful to have an organization like this to help increase the quality of life for Beloit and the surrounding areas.

Amateur Radio Relay League Field Day
On June 24th, the Kansas-Nebraska Radio Club will be participating in the 2017 Amateur Radio Relay League Field Day. The KNRC will be set up at the Mitchell County Fairground in Beloit near the intersection of Walnut St and 15th St. We will have our Communication Trailer set up and it will be open to the public to see and ask questions. We will be setting up around 10am on the 24th.
Every June, more than 40,000 hams throughout North America set up temporary transmitting stations in public places to demonstrate ham radio’s science, skill and service to our communities and our nation. It combines public service, emergency preparedness, community outreach and technical skills all in a single event. Field day has been an annual event since 1933 and remains the most popular event in ham radio.
As part of this event, the KNRC will be running on a generator and using temporary antennas. This is designed to simulate operation in an emergency situation. We will be making contacts with other Ham Radio Operators across the nation using different modes of making contact.
On Monday, June 5th, the Mitchell County Commissioners signed a Proclamation declaring June 18th-June 24th as Amateur Radio Week in Mitchell County.
