Drive 4 UR School
Beloit & Truck Plaza will be sponsoring the Drive 4 UR School event from 9am to 1pm on April 1st to benefit both St. John’s Catholic and Beloit High Schools. The event will be held at the business location on 3133 US Hwy 24 in Beloit. This event has the potential to raise $6,000 through 300 test drives.
Drive 4 UR School began in 2007 as a way for Ford to give back to communities across the country. The idea was for individuals to test-drive a Ford vehicle from a local dealership and earn $20 per test drive for their local high schools. The success for the school program inspired the launch of Drive 4 UR Community, allowing Ford Dealers to partner with nonprofit organizations as well. Thousands of events and $35 million in donations later, participants are still test-driving for a cause that they, and Ford, are equally passionate about.

LAWYER’S TO SPEAK AT AREA SENIOR CENTERS
Do you know the difference between a Will and a Trust? How do you know which one is best for you? When should you give someone the Power of Attorney to help manage your affairs? What exactly is a Living Will? Who should have the Power of Attorney for Medical Decisions in the event you are not able to make those life-altering considerations? I keep seeing ads on TV for Reverse Mortgages – is that something I should be contemplating?
These are just some of the topics that will be presented by area lawyers at the Senior Centers in Mitchell County. The first two presentations will be at the Cawker City Senior Center on Thursday, April 6th, and the Beloit Senior Center on Monday, April 10th. Similar workshops will follow at the Glen Elder Senior Center, and the Tipton Senior Center/Community Building. It is hoped one will also be available later at the Hunter Senior Center/Community Building.
The Cawker City event will take place in conjunction with the monthly potluck supper, beginning at 6:00 PM. Darrel Miller, attorney from Mankato, will be the presenter. Following his presentation, the participants will have an opportunity to ask questions, enabling them to further their knowledge on these important topics. The event is free to the public, and open to all area residents of all ages. April 6th at 6:00 PM is the date to be in Cawker City.
The seminar at the. Kay Prather will offer her law expertise at this meeting, first offering a presentation on the topics stated above, as well as other items of importance to those attending. This will be followed by a question/answer period, giving those in attendance the opportunity to ask on topics of major concern to themselves. Again, there is no charge for this program, and it is open to all area residents regardless of age.
Call Jay Rowh at 785-738-0241 for further details. You may also call the Cawker City Senior Center at 785-781-4763, or the Beloit Senior Center at 785-738-5802 for additional information. Pre-registration is not required. The events are sponsored by the Mitchell County Council on Aging, and the Senior Center hosting the event. Here is your chance to gain some basic knowledge in important areas needed to make wise choices in your retirement and “golden” years. Take advantage of these opportunities at your area Senior Center.
