Central National Bank Activities for October

It’s that time of year to Think Pink!

When you walk into Central National Bank you will definitely see pink. The walls and table coverings will be adorned in pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for October. This is their fourth year of decking out for the Pink-Out and their third year for the Best Dressed Contest.

This is also the banks celebration of 131 years and will kick-off the month with a Beloit Chamber Coffee serving Pink Pancakes on Oct. 9 from 9:00am – 10:30am. They are also serving pink treats every Friday including cookies, cake and strawberry ice cream.

In its fourth year, the lobby will be dressed with decorated bras in theme of “Bras for the Cause” and Breast Awareness Month. Anyone can decorate a bra and take their creation into the Central National Bank for display. The public can come to the bank, enjoy treats on Friday, and vote for their favorite bra. To enter a bra is a cost of five dollars and it one dollar to vote. All proceeds and donations will in return go to Relay For Life held on June 4, 2016.

Bring in your entry anytime as they will take bras up until the end of October. But the earlier you bring in your creation, the more votes one can receive. The public is encouraged to come and vote.

International Credit Union (ICU) Day® has been celebrated on the third Thursday of October since 1948. The day is recognized to reflect upon the credit union movement’s history and to promote its achievements. It is a day to honor those who have dedicated their lives to the movement, recognize the hard work of those working in the credit union industry and show members our appreciation.

The ultimate goal is to raise awareness about the great work that credit unions are doing around the world and give members the opportunity to get more involved. Credit unions and associations throughout the world celebrate the day with fundraisers, open houses, contests, picnics and parades.

Celebrate October Co-op Month with Farmway

Farmway Co-op invites you to participate in 2015 October Co-op Month, celebrating all the ways co-ops build a better world – through equality, through ownership and by investing in people and their communities.

The 2015 Co-op Month theme, “Take Ownership,” celebrates how the cooperative business model gives consumers a real stake in their economic decisions. Because cooperatives are owned and controlled by the people who use their services, decisions are made with the best interests of co-op members in mind – not to financially benefit corporate stockholders. From attending an annual meeting to serving on the cooperative’s board of directors, members are educated and encouraged to be actively involved in setting policies and shaping the future of their cooperative.

Farmway encourages the community to connect with the cooperative by participating in the Farmway Food Pantry Drive and the Farmway Coloring Contest.

Throughout the month of October, employees, producers, students and community members are encouraged to donate food pantry items at any Farmway location. Items will then be donated to the local food pantry. Help your local Farmway location collect the most goods!

Elementary students can download a Farmway coloring page found online at to enter the coloring contest. Contest ends October 14, 2015 and the winners receive a Co-op School Gift Package.

“We’re thrilled to work together this October to energize the community and help generate awareness,” said Mallory Wittstruck, Farmway communications director. “We hope you’ll join us to celebrate the cooperative difference, our proud cooperative heritage, and the ways we connect with each other, our communities and the world around us. Together, we can strengthen the co-op connection.”
