Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Solomon Valley Cinema
In 1995 the Solomon Valley Cinema opened its doors, thanks to the overwhelming generosity and support of the community and surrounding areas. Throughout the years, the support of its patrons has enabled Solomon Valley Cinema to keep up with advancing technology such as surround sound and digital cinema. Not only has the Cinema been able to update the technology, but other areas as well. “Over the past 20 years we have gotten a bigger popcorn machine, built an addition, remodeled the lobby and the bathrooms and added a POS system,” says manger Amanda Schwerman. “Everything has been updated one way or another, except for the auditoriums. So it is really exciting for the Board of Directors and I to tell the public that we are doing just that. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate 20 years than giving our patrons a more comfortable viewing experience.”
Plans for the Cinema’s remodel are to include new drapery and new rocker seats with flip up armrests in the auditoriums. There will also be some changes on the outside of the building as well. “We are purchasing new LED backlit ‘CINEMA’ letters and Bell Memorials is donating a new face to the marquee.”
During the time of the remodel, the Cinema will be closed. “We will close September 18 and have a Grand Reopening beginning October 2nd. That Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will have 1995 ticket and concession prices for each showing, as well as prizes. As a special treat, we will be showing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory Saturday the 3rd at 1:00pm. Admission will be FREE and we will still have our 1995 concession prices. Each person will get a Golden Ticket for a chance to win prizes. And of course the most exciting part is checking out the new seating!”
The Solomon Valley Cinema Board Members and Cinema staff would like to express their gratitude to anyone who has supported the Cinema over the past 20 years, and apologize for any inconvenience that may be caused while they are closed. If anyone would like to purchase the old chairs or are interested in helping, they may call Amanda at 738-4800 during business hours or leave a message.
