Ribbon Cutting/Open House

A Ribbon Cutting will be held at Cottage Celebrations, 622 N Poplar, on Friday, June 12th at 11am. An open house and refreshments will follow until 2pm. Owner Julie Nichols began cake decorating in high school. She decorated for family and friends, then a few years ago started getting more serious as more and more people asked her if she could do a cake for them. Last November, Julie made a six-tier, fondant ruffled wedding cake and at that point, was hooked. In January, Julie made the decision to go full-time and has been getting busier and busier each month. Julie thanks everyone who has ordered and looks forward to serving Beloit and the area with more beautiful and delicious cakes, cookies, and confections in the future. To see pictures of Julie’s work, please visit her facebook page, Cottage Celebrations. Hours of operation are by appointment at this time. You may call Julie at 785-534-9180, email at, or send a message via facebook, to place an order.

Cottage Celebrations, a local cake decorating business, has applied for a $100,000 grant from Chase’s, Mission Main Street Grants®. Cottage Celebrations submitted a questionnaire outlining a business plan that will result in growth of the business and must receive at least 250 votes to be eligible for a grant. Customers, fans and community members can show support for Cottage Celebrations by voting at using Facebook Connect.
The voting deadline is June 19, 2015 and grant recipients will be selected by expert panelists. Cottage Celebrations is striving to grow and expand by serving Beloit and the surrounding area with high quality and delicious cakes, cookies, and confections for all sizes of celebrations and events. “Business is steadily growing and is already starting to out-grown the small kitchen in the house rented and licensed by the state solely for cake decorating. I am hoping to relocate to a larger and more visible facility within the next year and receiving this grant would be an unbelievable opportunity to expand right when it is needed most,” said business owner, Julie Nichols.

Through Mission Main Street Grants, Chase will award $2 million to 20 small businesses across America. The 20 grant recipients will be announced in September 2015. Please help Julie by voting at the above link. Good Luck Julie!
