Summer & Fall Online Enrollment 2015

Not sure how to get started with a computer on the internet or email? Do you have an iPAD but don’t use it for much beyond Solitaire? Do you wish you could use more features on your Smart phone other than to just answer the phone? All these questions and more can be answered Tuesday and Wednesday, March 31 and April 1, at the Beloit Senior Center from 9:30 until 11:00. The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of age, and is FREE!!! The Mitchell County Council on Aging, as well as the Beloit Senior Center is sponsoring the event, and will feature Miss Shaylyn Krone and Miss Makenna Trumble of Beloit High School as the presenters. Shaylyn and Makenna will take your questions each day, and will work with you on either your own electronic equipment, or on the computers available at the Senior Center. No advance enrollment is required. The participants will determine the content, as their questions will lead the discussion. Whether novice or more advanced, Shaylyn and Makenna will help you become better with your device.

Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops, iPads, and Smart phones to the Senior Center either, or both, days of the workshop. Potential topics include Skype, storing data on the iCLOUD, getting and using new APPS, taking pictures with your devices, sending and receiving pictures from and to your phone, and any other questions the participants desire to have answered. For further information, call the Beloit Senior Center at 738-5802 or Jay Rowh at 738-2310. Take advantage of this opportunity to get expert, hands-on information that will help you get more out of your electronic equipment.

Kansas YP Summit

Every community’s civic vitality would be strengthened if more young professionals were actively engaged as the next generation of leadership in Kansas. Growing our own group of community and business leaders who will exercise their vision to help take their organizations and communities reach new levels is a vital piece in returning the strength and growth of the state as a whole.

I would like to personally extend an invitation to community, business and organization leaders in your community to access the knowledge and experience of community experts and industry leaders by attending the Kansas YP Summit at the Salina Bicentennial Center in Salina April 22 and 23. Now, in its 6th year, this full day, experiential conference is on track to reach its largest audience to date. The Kansas YP Summit exists to positively inspire and assist young professionals to grow personally and professionally. This year’s theme, Your Community, Your Vision, challenges attendees to get involved and be the change agent in transforming their communities.

Jason Roberts with Team Better Block is headlining the 2015 YP Summit as the keynote speaker. All community leaders and residents have a vision for what they want their community to be. Maybe it’s bike lanes, or a better transit system, or more outdoor cafes. Arts activist Jason Roberts had a similar vision, and he took it upon himself to make it happen. With his experience helping communities from across the nation revitalize dilapidated areas, Jason Roberts is the perfect individual to help young professionals from Kansas plan and ultimately realize their vision for their community. In addition there will 20 unique breakout sessions offered ranging from Collective Community Impact to Lean Communication to Effective Business Writing and Communication by experts from the local community and across the state as well.

This is one of the most cost effective training opportunities you will find anywhere. The early bird registration fee is $50 per person and ends March 31. After that registration is $75 per person. Registration includes attendance of pre-summit social, summit, and breakfast and lunch on the date of the summit. For more information about the Kansas YP Summit, visit or contact Eric L. Brown at For ticketing information, call (785) 827-9301 or visit
