AgMark LLC Names Mark Hafliger as President of AgMark LLC
AgMark LLC announced that Mark Hafliger has been promoted to President of AgMark LLC. Hafliger succeeds Jeff Bechard who has been in the President role since May 2002 and will be transitioning out of the company. AgMark LLC is owned by Farmway Co-op, Cloud County Co-op and Randall Farmers Co-op Union.
Hafliger will assume Bechard’s responsibilities on November 1 and will report directly to the AgMark board of directors: Art Duerksen, Farmway Co-op, Mark Paul, Cloud County Co-op, and Archie Thompson, Randall Farmers Co-op Union. Bechard will help Hafliger transition into the role until October 31 to ensure no disruption to the business.
“Having been at AgMark since the beginning of its formation and seeing all the ups and downs of the business over the years, I am very proud of what AgMark has become,” said Bechard. “I know that Mark is very passionate about the success of the company and I have a great feeling about the future of AgMark with his leadership and the strength of the entire AgMark team.”
A 22-year veteran of the grain industry, Hafliger joined the company in March 2008 as the Commodity Manager. Prior to AgMark LLC, Hafliger had a number of roles in the grain industry starting with a position at ADM. “I feel honored and excited to carry on where Jeff has left off,” said Hafliger. “I want to continue the growth that Jeff and our owners have provided AgMark customers.”
During his tenure as first Marketing Manager of AgMark in 1999 and being appointed President in 2002, Bechard has been a vital point in the success of AgMark LLC as well as through the investment of the partners. During its first year of existence, AgMark and its cooperative owners handled 26 million bushels. Now, the AgMark system handles nearly 60 million bushels of grain each year with 48 million bushels of storage capacity. Within the last five years, the average total of sales is $400 million. Crop protection insurance and grain marketing services have also been added to meet the needs of its area producers.
“It has been an honor and privilege to work for the three cooperatives, the AgMark employees and the customers over the past 15 years,” said Bechard. “This felt like the right time to move on and focus on the new opportunities in my personal life and the challenges ahead as I move to Columbus, Ohio.”

H & R Block Sponsors Coloring Contest
Winners of the Mitchell County Food Pantry Coloring Contest were announced on Wednesday, October 15th. Winners were Issac Wiles, Kindergartener at Beloit Elementary School, Lily DiNuzzo, 1st Grader at St. John’s Catholic School, Ryder Allen, 2nd Grader at Tipton Christian School, Ariana Armstrong, 4th Grader at Beloit Elementary School, Holley Thornbrugh, 6th Grader at Beloit Elementary School.
Each winner received a $25 gift certificate from H&R Block. Winning pictures will be featured on note cards. A gift set of five cards and envelopes will be available for sale for $5 at H&R Block Beloit, local churches and at the Beloit Holiday Craft Fair.
“H&R Block Beloit is paying for all expenses related to the production of the gift set of cards so 100% of the money that people spend to buy these note cards will go directly to benefit the Food Pantry,” said Beverly James, Mitchell County Food Pantry spokesperson. “We are hoping that people will put these cards on their holiday shopping list.”
Many wonderful pictures were submitted. Members of the Beloit Ministerial Alliance had the tough job of serving as judges. All the coloring contest entries will be displayed at H&R Block Beloit, 113 N Main, from November 1 through the end of tax season.

BHS Project Management Class
I have three students in Project Management who are currently unemployed…..during third hour. I only had one student last year, so I turned away work that she couldn’t get done. Now I’m trying to beat the bushes again, looking for projects for this year’s students.
My three students are Brooke Fairchild, Ian Birdsell and Makenna Trumble. They are all really good with a variety of computer programs, or other business-related things. If you know of a project you’d like to see done but don’t have the time or skills to complete, please check with me. My students might be able to help you out.
Please pass the word, and keep this in mind if you know of things that can be done for community groups, church groups, or others who could use our help.
